Honda’s 2 wheeler division in India has launched the Honda Dream Neo on 17th April 2013. The Dream Neo is the least priced motorcycle from the company in the Indian commuter segment and it will sit in the 100-110cc biking segment in India which accounts for majority of the two wheeler sales in the country. The Honda Dream Neo has been launched at a price tag of Rs.43,150 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This makes the bike the least priced Motorcycle from HMSI India’s lineup. It will challenge the dominance of Hero Splendor which is the largest selling motorcycle in India for a very long time.
The Dream Neo borrows a lot of body parts and engine from the elder and slightly premium sibling, Dream Yuga. It has its heart as the same unit found on the Dream Yuga but in a slightly different state of tune. The Dream Yuga is powered by a 110cc engine which develops a maximum power of 8.25bhp and a peak torque of 8.63 NM. The figures may seem paltry but they translate into a sky rocketing fuel efficiency.
The bike delivers 74 kilometers to a litre and comes with the HET (Honda Eco Technology) that made its debut on the scooter range from the company earlier this year. The bike features a slightly shortened wheelbase than the Dream Yuga but the ground clearance has been increased and now stands at 179mm. Honda plans to grow 150 percent in the 100-110cc segment on YoY basis and the Dream Neo will surely play a key role in that.
Variants
Honda Dream New is offered in 3 variants:
1. Kick Start, Spoke wheels coupled with a tuff-up tube
2. Kick Start, Alloy wheels and tubeless tyres
3. Self Start, Alloy wheels and tubeless tyres.
The Dream Neo will start hitting the roads in the first week of May 2013. The bike will be competing head on with the Hero Splendor which has been the unrivaled king of the segment since the time it has been launched.
