Honda has launched the CR-V with a facelift as a special edition model here in India for a price of Rs 29.50 lakh. Bookings for the special edition Honda CR-V facelift are currently open at your closest Honda dealership or via the online booking portal. You might however want to hurry because this special edition model will likely be limited by numbers. Compared to the standard CR-V that’s on sale in India, this facelifted special edition model commands a premium of Rs 1.23 lakh.
What do you get for the premium?
That’s quite a hefty premium for what’s a special edition model but you get a few new features along with a slight cosmetic makeover as well. What you also get is exclusivity, as this will be limited by numbers, but boasts of a slightly different look than the standard CR-V. That includes a completely new front bumper that looks a lot sportier and even comes with a pair of LED fog lamps. Even the chrome finish on what Honda calls the ‘moustache grille’ has been blacked out and it makes world of a difference. The grille merges into the LED headlamps, which now additionally get a cornering function.
What are the new features on offer?
As mentioned above, the cornering function for the LED headlamps are new. The SUV also gets a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, the special edition Honda CR-V gets some additional features such as a powered co-driver’s seat and auto opening and closing of ORVMs. It also gets front parking sensors and a powered tailgate. The SUV also comes fitted with cosmetic accessories such as running boards and illuminated door sills.
Apart from the addition of these new features, the CR-V continues with features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, a digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, Honda’s Lane Watch camera, powered driver’s seat, and ambient lighting. Safety kit includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, and electronic parking brake.

What’s under the hood?
The Honda CR-V special edition continues with the 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine from the standard model. This engine produces 154hp and 189Nm of torque and solely comes mated to a CVT gearbox. Prior to the BS6 emission norms, Honda even offered a diesel engine on the CR-V with the option of either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, but these drivetrains have now been discontinued. Currently, its only a front-wheel drive SUV.

Sources suggest that the special edition model will be limited to just 45 units. This facelift is in fact based on the CR-V facelift that was revealed for international markets last year. The standard Honda CR-V retails in the country for a price of Rs 28.27 lakh in a single fully-loaded variant. It rivals the Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, and Skoda Kodiaq TSI.
