The 2019 iteration of the Honda Civic is going to launch in India on the 7th of March this year. Here is a complete variant wise feature-list break-up.
The 10th generation Honda Civic is all set to launch in India on the 7th of March this year. Its launch marks the comeback of the Civic brand in India after a gap of almost 6 years. Honda is sure that the Civic packs in everything that can revive the stagnant D-segment. And it seems that they are right as the automaker recently announced that the bookings for the new Civic, within the first 7 days of opening, have exceeded their expectations set for a 3-week period. Promising isn’t it?
The Honda Civic does have a slight edge over the competition when it comes to popularity. The 8th generation of this sedan, the last iteration which was on sale in India, did manage to create a huge fan base. The 2019 Honda Civic will now stand as something which the existing Honda city owners can upgrade to, hence keeping them within the brand.

In order to make sure that the new Civic hits the right cord, Honda has decided to launch the same with a diesel engine, alongside petrol this time around. The oil-burner is a 1.6-litre unit, the same which we saw on the CR-V and is capable of churning out 120 BHP of power along with 300 Nm of peak torque. Unlike the CR-V, here it is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. Why? Because Honda’s market research indicates that buyers in the D-segment, opting for a diesel sedan, are chauffer driven and hence, opt for a manual transmission over expensive auto option.

The results of the same market research have resulted in Honda plonking in the same 1.8-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine in the current India-spec Civic which was available with the 8th generation iteration back in 2012. That said, this engine has been thoroughly revised and belts out 140 BHP of power along with 174 Nm of peak torque. It is paired to a CVT automatic gearbox. There is no manual option on offer with the petrol engine.
