By Honda sales report for July, the company saw a total of 10,250 units sold as compared to 19,970 units sold in the same month previous year.
Earlier this year, Honda was riding high on the sales number of its compact sedan, Amaze. And now further news has come up that the sales of all Honda cars (yes, including the Amaze) for July 2019 have dipped to 48% when compared to the July’18.
Honda cars registered domestic monthly sales of 10,250 units for July and exports stood at 334 units. A total of 10,584 units were sold as compared to the 20,608 units sold last July 2018.
Mr. Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President and Director, Sales and Marketing, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “The degrowth in the automobile industry further intensified last month amidst weak buying sentiment and overall slowdown. We are also witnessing a lot of postponement of purchases. It is extremely worrisome since Jul’19 decline is much severe than Q1 decline and that too when the industry had degrown in July last year as well.”
“HCIL’s July’19 results are on a higher base of July’18 when All New 2nd Gen Amaze was in its third month of launch and had clocked its highest sales in a month,” he added. The company had sold 19,970 units in the domestic market in July 2018.

Honda currently has a total of eight vehicles in its portfolio ranging from Amaze, Jazz, WR-V, BR-V, City, Civic, CR-V and Accord. There will be a new entrant too, the HR-V which will position between the BR-V and CR-V. The crossover is expected to launch this festive season.
The story is the same for other manufacturers too like the Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Tata and others. Maruti Suzuki cumulative sales in between April to July, a drop of 23.2%, selling 474,487 units of vehicles as against 617,990 units of vehicles that were sold in the same period of the previous year. This figure is inclusive of the 1796 units of the Baleno that Maruti has supplied to Toyota to be sold as Glanza through Toyota’s dealerships.
