Honda’s mass market offering, the Brio has been ramping up decent numbers globally since its launch for the simple reason that it has quite a peppy motor inside it and at the same time, it offers a nice fuel economy as well. The car has been pretty much the same unit ever since its launch but Honda has given the car a mid-life refresh in Thailand recently and the same is expected to make its way to India as well. The Honda Brio facelift does not get any change on the mechanical front and remains bog-similar to the pre-facelifted lifted version. However, it gets a slew of features which will add to the overall appeal of this city car.
The car’s rear glass back did not let the Japanese manufacturer put a rear washer initially which now makes it way on to the car. The car gets a roof mounted spoiler as well at the back with the LED stop lamp being neatly integrated into it. On the front, the car looks similar to the original version and gets fog lamps but the Indian spec Brio already has fog lamps. It gets two new colours, namely Rally Red and Modern Steel Grey. At the rear, the car gets chrome garnishing below the Honda logo. The facelifted version is not poles apart from the original one in terms of looks and one can easily mistake it for the original one.
As you step inside the car, you notice that the Brio now comes shod with an all-new touch screen audio system with navigation instead of the conventional audio system with buttons and dials. It gets a dash of chrome here and there on the inside to lend it a premium feel but that is about it.
The rest of the car remains same. It is powered by a 1.2 litre petrol motor that develops 88 BHP- 110 NM and provides for a peppy drive around the city as well as on highways. We can safely expect the new features to seep in to the Indian spec car in the coming 2-3 months. The Indian spec Brio was updated back in April with some features and the addition of the new features will make it a pretty loaded car.
