Honda Activa vs Hero Duet Comparison of Price

Honda is known to price most of its products at a slight premium over its immediate rivals. Same is the case with the Honda Activa 4G. The 2017 Honda Activa 4G has a sticker price of Rs 50,730. In comparison, the Hero Duet has a starting price of Rs 48,400. What’s important to note here, however, is the fact that Hero is yet to launch the BS-IV compliant Duet. In all likelihood, the 2017 Duet will cost almost the same as the Activa 4G.

Honda Activa vs Hero Duet Comparison of Features

Thanks to the new norms by the Government, the Activa 4G comes with a BS-IV compliant engine and Auto Headlamp On. Apart from this, another noteworthy feature on the Activa is the Combi Brake System. Apart from this, in its latest avatar, the Activa also gets a phone charging socket and a retractable hook. Hero is yet to launch the BS-IV compliant Duet. Once the 2017 Duet is out, even it will feature a BS-IV compliant engine and Auto Headlamp On feature to meet the upcoming norms. Even the Duet gets integrated brakes and a mobile charging socket. In addition, it offers a stylish semi-digital speedo console and an external fuel-filler cap. The latter of the two is a feature we really want on the Activa! Both the scooters here get a metal body.

Both the scooters have a near-110cc engine. While both the Activa 4G and the Duet have the same power output, the Duet’s peak power comes in at 500 RPM higher. Also, the Activa has a torque advantage as not only does it benefit from a higher peak torque, but it’s developed at a lower engine speed. There’s one big factor in Duet’s favor though. The Hero Duet gets telescopic forks, which make quite a big difference in the way it rides and handles. This is a definite advantage over the Activa.

The Activa 4G not only offers better performance, but is also more frugal. While you can extract an average fuel mileage of upto 60 KMPL on the Activa, the Duet will return a mileage of roughly 55 KMPL in same conditions.

As far as the exteriors of the new Duet scooter are concerned, we a see a top mounted headlamp unit flanked by the turn indicators. The whole setup closely resembles that of the Honda Activa. There is also some chrome embellishments on the front and sides of the scooter. The rear tail lamp portion looks very striking.The updated Activa 4G gets a slightly updated apron, which will definitely bring some freshness to the design. Both the Duet and the Activa get indicators placed at either sides of the headlamp.

• Design – Both the scooters look fairly handsome.
• Features – While both are almost equally matched here, we want the Activa to offer an external fuel filler cap, too.
• Specifications – The Activa has a clear advantage here. It gets more power and torque.
• Mileage – The Activa is slightly more fuel efficient than the Duet, which is a major advantage the Honda automatic scooter enjoys.
• Price – The Duet holds a slight price advantage over the Activa 4G. However, just for a slightly higher price, Activa offers more power, higher mileage and the legendary Honda quality standards.

Comparison Verdict-As seen above, the Activa 4G has clear advantage over the Hero Duet. It remains to be seen if the 2017 Duel would have enough updates to outperform the Activa.
