Many videos on Youtube suggest that the Honda Activa 7G has already reached dealerships and would launch soon but is this true?
Honda Activa is undoubtedly the most successful scooter to have ever sold in the country. First launched two decades ago, the automatic scooter has not only outlived its rivals but has even performed a lot better than its siblings like the Dio, Aviator and Grazia. Now, several videos on Youtube suggest that Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) is close to launching the next generation of its popular offering. However, is the scooter being showed in these videos actually the Honda Activa 7G? Allow us to give you a quick fact check.

Honda Activa has traditionally been a pretty conventionally-styled scooter. Don’t get us wrong here as we totally acknowledge the various aesthetic improvements it has received with every generation upgrade. Even then, it’s still a pretty conventionally styled scooter. However, the model you see in the videos being circulated is by far among the sportiest scooters to wear a Honda badge. This, alone, is enough to ring alarm bells and prevent one from believing it’s an Activa. Well, we say so simply because the vehicle you see in the video above, and even in several other similar videos, is NOT a Honda Activa but a Yamaha Aerox 155-rival sold abroad.
Dubbed the Honda Supra GTR 150, this scooter was revised in late 2021 and is on sale in many markets. The updates received by this motoscooter are inspired from the company’s CBR lineup of motorcycles. This model is quite popular in several Southeast Asian markets and the recent set of updates makes it a potent rival of the Aerox. The same scooter is also known as the Winner X in Vietnam and the latest version has attracted many buyers with the sporty looks. At the front, it carries a stylish twin-pod LED headlamp console that gives it a pretty aggressive look. Other noteworthy bits of the styling package include an upswept exhaust, and all-black side body panels along with split grab-rails, stylish alloy wheels and a sleek LED taillamp.

Powering the Honda Supra GTR 150 is a 150cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that churns out a maximum power of 15.4bhp at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 13.5Nm at 6,700 rpm. This scooter is really unlikely to ever make it to our market but the Honda Activa 7G is definitely on the cards and could be launched later this year. Unfortunately, though, it won’t look anything like the sporty motoscooter that is being promoted by many as the next generation of the company’s commuter-oriented automatic scooter.
