Honda seems to have gained an appreciable pace over the past few months both in India as well as across other global markets. First it was price cut on Honda Jazz and Honda City, then it was the global launch of Honda Brio small car, then it announced of bringing diesel models by 2013 and now it is about the launch of an all new Accord.
I know it is quite surprising since the current Honda Accord isn’t old enough to be replaced by a newer version as it was launched in February but in Romania the Japanese major has introduced the 2012 Honda Accord.

Interestingly the company has not made any extra efforts to design an all new version but has derived all the looks from its luxury vehicle division Acura’s TSX sedan.
The latest Accord is a real sporty machine with less percentage of elegance and more of aggression on the exteriors which is quite opposite of the current model which is all about elegance. The changes in the design include completely new grille, sportier headlamps as seen in 2012 Honda Civic, a sharper and mostly flat body with less curves, redesigned rear etc. In fact the overall profile is very much sharp now and it surely looks impressive. The structure now resembles to that of a coupe from the rear as the roof line has been tweaked.

On the interiors ,as said, a lot of changes have been brought of which the most significant ones are improved NVH levels since the company has added more sound absorbing material. The rear glass window has also been thickened by 0.9 mm to further improve the noise insulation.

The suspension of the car has been re tuned for improved ride and handling characteristics. As far as Romania is concerned the car is only available in a 2.0 L MPFI petrol engine offered with manual and automatic transmission both. The number of variants are two – Elegance and Executive. The car completes the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 9.3 seconds and has a top speed of 215 km/hr.
Let us see whether the same arrives in Indian market immediately or does Honda take some time to figure out the best time to introduce it.
