Aftermarket car modification houses often come up with unique iterations of regular cars but this is a special case.
This home-built Mahindra Thar Roxx has been going viral on social media in the last few days. The main attraction of this SUV is that the car shop had it even before the original Thar Roxx was launched. That confused and amazed everyone. However, the owner of the aftermarket shop explains how he was able to get his hands on this body shell. Note that the Thar Roxx has a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The customers are excited to own it. We will get to know the final price details of all trims at a later stage. For now, let us delve into the specifics of this latest instance.
Home-built Mahindra Thar Roxx
This video comes from Small Town Rider on YouTube. The vlogger is at the workshop where work is being done on this rare Mahindra Thar Roxx. While talking to the owner, the vlogger found out that the owner was able to source the body shell of the new Thar from the Mahindra scrapyard. The latter mentions that car companies often scrap the body shells of their cars after performing strength tests and other activities. That is where the owner picked this shell up from, even before the launch. Now he wants to conduct extreme modifications on this Thar as per his desires.
To start with, he has used a regular chassis since they were able to get only the body shell. Apart from that, they have installed the bonnet of the original Wrangler. To make the fascia even more aggressive, there is a colossal hood scoop on it. At present, the SUV is in barebones condition. However, the car shop owner has extensive plans to customize it thoroughly. He even mentions that this model won’t ever be on sale. They will experiment with all sorts of aftermarket components on this. In this manner, this will serve as the demo model. Once the deliveries of the original Mahindra Thar Roxx commence, people can reference this model to get their SUVs modified.
Our View
I have covered innumerable instances of people heading to the aftermarket car shops to get their vehicles extensively altered. I must mention here that most car customizations are illegal in the country. If the traffic cops catch you, they will slap hefty fines and ask you to remove the modifications. Therefore, I would like to suggest that you only get involved in such instances as passion projects. Alternatively, if you are in a remote location, you can still use a heavily modified car. However, using it on a daily basis in a large city can be problematic.
