The world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero Motocorp is all set for the new Hero Xtreme 200S Launch on 18th December 2017. As reported by our friends at Gaadiwaadi, the automaker will also showcase a new 125cc scooter an new Hero Passion pro 110 CC. Further details of the latter are unavailable right now so stay tuned for regular updates.
The diamond type frame houses a single cylinder 200cc air-cooled unit that churns out 18.6 PS of peak power at 8,500 rpm and 17.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Hero showcased the Xtreme 200 S in concept guise at the 2014 Auto Expo following which, it displayed a near-production vehicle at EICMA this year.
The bike features telescopic suspension in the front and a monoshock at the rear. For braking, the bike employs disc brake at both ends and we expect Hero to release ABS version but it might be an optional extra. Expect the bike to be priced between 90,000 to 1,00,000 as the initial price and like mentioned above, ABS to come as an optional extra. The company’s focus is not entirely on power delivery and is rather looking to make it efficient with the Xtreme 200 S expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of 40 KMPL. Upon launch, the Hero Xtreme 200 S will compete directly with the Bajaj NS200 and TVS Apache 200 4V.
On the front, the Xtreme 200 S features a sharp headlamp with LED position lamps followed by a muscular fuel tank. The seating position is going to be upright making long rides comfortable. in Continuation of the premium appeal, the bike will sport an analogue and digital combo tachometer followed by a dual tone stepped-up seat. The tail looks sharp and neat with LED tail light crowning the rear. The Xtreme 200 S was displayed at the 2014 Auto Expo in white-red-black colour scheme and in grey guise at EICMA this year. The colour options available on the production version will be clear at the launch.
With the changing time, Hero Motocorp is shifting its focus from the mere bread and butter i.e. the commuter segment and introducing exclusive and the segment-defining vehicles. The Xtreme 200 S is one such example and with this, the company is focussing more on the premium market. Another example is the Xpulse concept recently showcased at EICMA, Milan which is speculated to share the engine with the Xtreme 200 S. Two more products in the pipeline are the 250cc HX250 and the XF3R both of which were showcased in the 2014 Auto Expo in concept form. Stay tuned for more details from the Hero Xtreme 200S Launch.
