Hero MotoCorp displayed the ‘XPulse’ concept at the 2017 EICMA Motor Show in Milan earlier this month. The latest concept from the country’s largest-selling bike-maker previews an upcoming adventure bike that will become a logical successor to the Impulse 150cc motorcycle. While the Impulse couldn’t really set the sales charts on fire, it now looks like the new Hero XPulse is ready to shake the fast-growing adventure bike market.

The XPulse concept will be put on a show at the Auto Expo 2018. Subsequently, the production model will launch in the market. We are expecting a Diwali-season launch next year. The production-spec bike will be also exported to several international markets. There are good chances that the new model will sport a 200cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. This engine will be a re-tuned version of the engine that will power the Xtreme 200S.

Hero XPulse Launch Date in India
Launch Date (expected) | October-November 2018 |
The Hero XPulse launch is likely to happen during next year’s Diwali season. The new adventure motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp made its public debut at the EICMA 2017 in a concept avatar. The new model will make its India debut at the Auto Expo 2018 in February next year. Subsequently, it will launch in India. We are expecting the launch date to fall into the festive season of next year. The company has so far chosen to not divulge any details on the launch of XPulse in India. However, we are pretty sure to have a better picture post the Expo debut of this motorcycle.
Hero XPulse Price in India
Minimum Price | Rs 1.1 Lakh |
Maximum Price | Rs 1.3 Lakh |
While the XPulse will become a logical successor to the Impulse, it will definitely command a huge price premium over its predecessor. Expect the XPulse to cost at least Rs 1.1-1.3 lakh when it launches in India. The XPulse will rival the likes of KTM Duke 200 and TVS Apache RTR 200 in terms of price positioning. The XPulse will become a cheaper alternative to the Royal Enfield Himalayan, which costs upwards of Rs 1.90 lakh. Hence, a price advantage of roughly Rs 80,000 – Rs 60,000 will work in favour of the new Hero motorcycle.
Hero XPulse Specs

Hero MotoCorp is yet to announce the technical specifications of its upcoming adventure motorcycle. However, the new motorcycle, which is being touted as the Impulse 200cc, will share its engine with the Xtreme 200S. For the 200cc Xtreme, the new 200cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine in question here puts out a max. power-torque of 18.5 BHP-17.2 NM. Mated to the engine is a 5-speed manual transmission. Long travel front forks up front and a mono suspension at the rear perform the suspension duties. Braking is courtesy of disc brakes on both front and rear wheels.

Hero XPulse Design
The XPulse concept gets a larger front wheel, which, at least in the concept stage, comes shod with Metzeler off-road tyre. It also gets twin long-travel front forks with rubber fork gaiters, a raised front fender that is typical of an adventure motorcycle, and a round headlight that is flanked by a windscreen. The new Hero Xpulse concept offers an enduro-bike-like handlebar along with olive green-coloured handguards.
The fuel tank has well-defined knee recesses and the new motorcycle boats a very upright stance. There’s a one-piece seat that, again in adventure bike fashion, goes on to extend onto the fuel tank. There is really no information on the engine at the moment. However, there are very good chances that the new motorcycle will come with a motor that’s based on the engine for the upcoming Xtreme 200S. The production-spec Hero Xtreme 200S will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2018. The motorcycle features an upswept exhaust and the new XPulse is built around a single-downtube chassis with a box-section swingarm. Both the wheels get a disc brake each. The rear also gets a monoshock suspension.
