The new Hero Xoom 125 is the latest entrant into this popular segment in which the TVS Ntorq 125 is quite successful
In this post, we take a detailed look at the review of the new Hero Xoom 125 which is a direct rival to the TVS Ntorq 125. This is a mega-popular segment in India. People in big cities and small towns opt for scooters in this category simply because of the attractive price point and high mileage. The new Xoom 125 is aimed at new-age customers who are looking for a feature-rich scooter along with slightly sporty riding dynamics. It is available in two variants – VX and ZX. So without any further ado, let us get into the specifics of this review.
Hero Xoom 125 First Ride Review
As a part of the recent media drive, we were able to have some time with the Hero Xoom 125. On the outside, it bears adventurous and sporty elements including the body graphics, aggressive fascia with LED lighting and a Falcom-inspired theme. At the rear, it uses unique sequential LED turn indicators, split grab handles and a sharp tail end. Apart from that, the scooter bears 14-inch alloy wheels painted black for added visual appeal. Also, there is a petal disc brake at the front along with a 110 mm tyre, while at the rear, there is a 120 mm tyre.
In terms of the features list, the new Hero Xoom 125 is loaded to the brim. This has to be the most important aspect of any modern scooter from the customers’ standpoint. The main highlights include a fully digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, SMS and call support, step-by-step navigation, USB charging socket, fuel cap open reminder, 17-litre under-seat storage, and much more. Clearly, the buyers will be satisfied with the kind of amenities on offer.
Specs and Performance
The Hero Xoom 125 gets a 125-cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine which generates a healthy 9.9 PS and 10.4 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. During our review, we rode it across a diverse range of traffic conditions including city and highways. We must mention that the scooter gains speed quickly which is great for overtaking. Also, the suspension is a bit on the stiffer side which allows great handling and stability on the road. This also means that the bumps and undulations of the road are felt a bit more. Finally, even though the scooter gets a disc brake at front, it lacks bite that you expect from a disc rotor. Instead, it has a very drum-like feel. However, braking is adequate. Also, you can expect a real-world mileage of around 40 km/l. The prices range from Rs 87,000 to Rs 93,000, ex-showroom.
