Through its multiple partnerships, the Japanese brand has offered many successful models to Indian customers. Now, it is planning to focus on the electric bike segment in the Indian market. For this, the company has partnered with California-based Zero Motorcycles. The two companies will focus on bringing new premium electric motorcycles.

Zero Motorcycles is a premium electric motorcycle and powertrain manufacturer. It aims to transform the EV riding experience. On the other hand, the Hero MotoCorp is a trusted mass-market motorcycle manufacturer. The new collaboration is great for Hero MotoCorp’s electric mobility outreach. It will also help the electric mobility transition in India and other global markets. As of now, Hero Motocorp’s entry into the EV market is focused on the VIDA brand. It has already launched the VIDA V1 scooter. The company is also working on building public charging infrastructure in Bengaluru, Delhi, and Jaipur. So far, about 300 charging points are set up for public use. However, it is a master in manufacturing, sourcing, and marketing. The brand can quickly use Zero Motorcycles’ expertise and streamline manufacturing processes from the word go. This is essential to get into a new bike segment/ space.

Hero MotoCorp’s Equity Investment in Zero Motorcycles
In a strategic move, Hero MotoCorp made an equity investment of up to 60 million US Dollars in Zero Motorcycles in September last year. This is part of the company’s initiative to advance electric mobility. As per the latest projections, electric vehicles will make a significant cut in monthly sales in the future. Thanks to Zero Motorcycles’ technology, Hero MotoCorp hopes to bring innovative products that offer performance-based and transform the riding experience.

Electric vehicles are yet to become popular among Indian customers.
