For the first time, the Renault Kiger compact SUV has been spied partially undisguised. It will be launched this year itself, towards the festive season.
Renault is currently developing its upcoming subcompact SUV, Kiger. No details about it are out, but reports suggest that it will be the most affordable SUV. It has been spied testing a couple of times, but for the first time, it has been spotted partially undisguised. The camouflage is there but you can see the alloy wheels and the front portion.
As you can see, it adapts a completely new design which is a bit different from the Triber and Kwid. The front portion gets a V-shaped grille which also consists of LED headlamps and turn indicators. Below the grille, is another line-type housing that comes with fog lamps on both the sides.

The front portion makes it look like a bigger version of the Kwid itself. Recently, its interiors were spied as well which showed similarities with the cabin of Triber. It will get a three-spoke multi function steering wheel with mounted audio controls and cruise control. Renault Kiger will also get a digital instrument cluster, identical to what seen on Triber.
The centre console gets a push button start, automatic climate control and a floating touchscreen infotainment system. This looks like the automatic variant and that too, the top-spec trim. Kiger will mostly come with a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder petrol engine and a turbo petrol engine as well.
The petrol engine will produce 72 PS and 96 Nm of peak torque. The turbo engine is expected to give out nearly 100 PS. The top-spec trims will get the turbo engine. Both of them are expected to come paired with a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT. Features onboard might include electric sunroof, internet car technology and much more.

Renault has confirmed that the upcoming Kiger will be priced well under the budget of Rs 6 Lakhs for the top-spec trim. That means the price range could start off at Rs 4 Lakhs going up to Rs 6 Lakhs (ex-showroom). With this price range, it will compete with the likes of Maruti WagonR, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and base variants of all sub compact SUV.
