Kia has again wowed us with the expansive features list of the Sonet just as they did with the Seltos. The Sonet gets many unique segment-first features which leaves the competition way behind. Here’s a list of them.
Kia Motor unveiled the Sonet sub-compact SUV in India last week and it is going to be one of the biggest launches this year when it hits the market sometime in September. Just like its elder sibling Seltos, the Kia Sonet has wowed us with its expansive features list. Not only does it leave behind some of its competitors by a mile, it also gets some segment-first features which are not in any of its counterparts. So here’s a list of the all the Kia Sonet-only features that will surely leave you impressed.
Ventilated Front Seats
This has to be the biggest party piece of the Kia Sonet and one that’s a huge welcome. No other car in the segment comes with ventilated seats, not even the Venue. Moreover, in a country like India with hot and humid climate for most of the year, this feature will be a huge boon. Ventilated seats were once only a high-end feature but its a huge thing to see it make its way into more mass market cars.
10.25-Inch Touchscreen Infotainment System
A screen size of 10.25-inch in a sub-compact SUV is rather huge, actually the largest in the segment. The infotainment screen has in fact directly been lifted from the Seltos and put in the Sonet. It gets UVO connected internet car technology enabling you to do many remote operations from your phone and your smart key. Further, it also gets voice assist, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Ambient Lighting
This again used to be a very high-end feature even a few years ago but its great to see it having made its way into a car like the Kia Sonet. The ambient lights illuminate the door pads and the foot-well area inside the cabin of the Sonet and there are multiple color options to choose from as well. Even the background color of the instrument panel can be adjusted according to the ambient color.
Bose Premium Surround Sound System
The Kia Sonet sources the same 7.1 Channel Bose surround sound system from the Seltos with five speakers, two twitters and a sub-woofer set up. There’s one speaker integrated in each of the doors, one integrated in the dashboard, two twitters are on the A-Pillars and the sub-woofer has been fitted in the boot. We really liked the sound system in the Seltos and we are sure it will be equally good here in the Sonet.

Wireless Phone Charger with cooling function
While the Hyundai Venue already offers wireless charging feature, the Kia Sonet goes a step further with cooling function for the wireless charger. Overheating of the smartphone through wireless charging is often an inevitable issue and you must have felt your phone burning on numerous occasions when you lift it up from the wireless tray. The Sonet however will take care of that issue with its unique cooling function.

Diesel-automatic powertrain
The last segment-first feature of the Kia Sonet is on the powertrain front. While diesel itself is becoming quite obsolete in this segment, a diesel-automatic powertrain even more rare. Kia will offer a segment-first torque converter automatic gearbox with a diesel engine on the Sonet. The combination of a diesel engine with a torque converter gearbox will surely shoot up the prices, but Kia at least wants to offer the option to its customers.
