The Czech carmaker is prepping to launch a brand-new compact SUV in our market in the first half of 2025. It aims to leverage the popularity of this massively burgeoning market segment. Name The Next Skoda Compact SUV Contest
Skoda has always maintained a pattern in the nomenclature of its SUVs in India and across the globe. You must have noticed that the names of Skoda SUVs commence with the letter ‘K’ and end with the alphabet ‘Q’. Also, they ideally have one or two syllables. For instance, Kodiaq, Karoq, Kushaq, Kamiq, etc. To continue that approach and tradition, Skoda is asking us to suggest a name using this format which has a specific meaning. For this, it runs a website called NameYourSkoda. For the upcoming compact SUV, there are already 1,30,000+ entries. With that pool of responses from potential Indian buyers, it is a challenge to come up with the winner straight away. Hence, Skoda has shortlisted 15 names. These are:
- Kwiq
- Kliq
- Kayaq
- Kyroq
- Kaiq
- Kylaq
- Kosmiq
- Kariq
- Karmiq
- Kymaq
- Kamotiq
- Kaliq
- Konarq
- Kanishq
- Kroniq

Moreover, another 10 winners will get a chance to visit Skoda Auto in Mlada Boleslav and Skoda Museum along with a trip to Prague. We don’t need to tell you how popular Prague is as a tourist destination. You can cast your vote from March 28 to April 12, 2024.

Author’s Note
This is a brilliant endeavour from the Czech carmaker to create a community and buzz around its upcoming compact SUV. It will be positioned below the existing Kushaq mid-size SUV. As a result, it will be the entry-level product from Skoda in India. While the details pertaining to the compact SUV are still scarce, we expect it to carry the 1.0-litre turbo petrol TSI engine to keep the costs in check. More information will come to light in the coming months.
