Google Maps is a tool that almost everyone has to use, especially if they find themselves in a new city or area.
With the advancement in technology, Google Maps in India will now be able to prevent overspeeding fines with this latest feature. Google has launched a pilot program in association with the Bangalore traffic police. The aim is to curb the infamous Bangalore traffic and congestion on the roads. Now, while searching for anything on Google Maps, the user will be shown the speed limit at every part of that journey. The app aims to receive this information from the local authorities and will display this on every road that the user needs to take to reach the destination.

Google Maps To Avoid Overspeeding Fines
In the pilot run, the traffic congestion was eased by 20% at all intersections. This would serve as the proof of concept for this model and feature. Now, this will be scaled up to cover the entire Bangalore and then implemented in Chandigarh for the initial phase. Once the model is successful, this feature will be rolled out to major cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Gurgaon, and Agra. Along with the information regarding the speed limits, other things will include road closures, and live incidents so that one would be able to avoid such scenarios reducing traffic significantly.

It must be mentioned here that such features already exist in other major developed countries. It prevents the drivers from overspeeding and enhances road safety substantially. Also, it allows people to plan and alter their travel plans in advance after getting any update of an incident on the planned route.
