Indians are always fascinated to small and fuel efficient cars and this completely justifies why Maruti Suzuki is the largest selling brand here. Initially people only demanded fuel efficiency but with the changing tastes another factor that is considered equally important is the space. So now many buyers look for a small and efficient yet spacious car which is one of the reasons of the attention the compact SUV segment is getting here in India.
Some very important cars from the compact sport utility vehicle segment are heading our way like Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster and Maruti XA Alpha Concept. Now GM is also ready to participate in the race against the above mentioned projects and is planning to build one such vehicle for the Indian market.

General Motors India, President and Managing Director, Lowell Paddock recently said, “There is an opportunity for us to do a small sports utility vehicle. Indian consumers are looking for is a small nimble and efficient SUV. I think we need to go where the market is headed,”
A couple of reasons directly favor the brand of which the most important is access to Fiat Multijet technology engine that can be manufactured at the company’s Talegaon facility. The Smartech petrol engine line-up is also favorable for the new SUV and the only concerning thing left would be the platform on which it will be built.
We know that Chevrolet is planning replace the Aveo sedan and hatchback models with Chevrolet Sail twins and this is what interests us the most as the brand can very likely to adopt the platform of Sail for the compact SUV.
