Ford has been testing many new models in recent months sparking rumours about its potential comeback after almost 3 years since it quit manufacturing cars in India.
The prominent Ford Ranger pickup truck was spotted in the streets of Delhi recently. I have reported many Ford vehicles seen in recent times at various places in India. These include cars like the new Everest (Endeavour) and Ranger pickup truck. Moreover, Ford has filed patents for Equator and Territory in our market too. Not to mention, it is hiring for its EV research and development wing for its headquarters in Chennai. All these point to the fact that we might finally see new Ford cars in India yet again.

Ford Ranger Seen in Delhi
This post comes from allabout_machines on Instagram. It captures the large pickup truck plying on the road somewhere in Delhi. What is interesting is the fact that it passes adjacent to a WagonR. The road presence of this ginormous truck comes to light as it towers over almost all other passenger vehicles on the road. Being a proper American pickup truck, it has colossal dimensions and size which makes it extremely desirable for all those who want a vehicle with an imposing road presence. The text in the video mentions that this is a private import and not Ford testing it. In any case, this gives us a realistic idea of what the Ranger looks and feels like on our roads.
In the international market, the Ford Ranger comes with powerful 2.3-litre EcoBoost, 2.7-litre EcoBoost and 3.0-litre EcoBoost engines developing an impressive 270 hp / 421 Nm, 315 hp / 544 Nm and 405 hp / 585 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. There are options of choosing between either a 4×2 or a 4×4 configuration. All these variants come with a sole 10-speed automatic transmission. It gets plenty of hardcore off-roading equipment to ensure that the occupants glide over just about any obstacle.

Ford Comeback Plans
Now, Ford has been playing tricks on us by bringing in new vehicles including the Everest and Ranger to our country. The recent images of the two being transported on the back of a flatbed truck have gone viral. Ford has not yet sold its Chennai manufacturing facility which can produce 150,000-200,000 cars and 350,000 engines annually. On top of that, Ford’s EV division in India is hiring employees for R&D. Hence, all these are encouraging signs that it might start making and selling cars in India yet again. We shall have to wait a bit longer to know the full details.
