In what seems to be a top-down approach by Ford Middle East for the UAE market when it comes to the Ranger, it comes to us as no surprise that the lower variants were the last ones to make their way to the country. The Ranger, in its current iteration as the Ranger Raptor, has been present in the country since the latter part of 2022. However, it’s only recently that the other engine options have become available for booking. The 2.3 EcoBoost-equipped Ranger will be offered in both XLT and WildTrak trims, providing customers with versatile choices. On the other hand, the diesel engine variant will be exclusive to the base XLT Trim, catering to those who prioritize fuel efficiency and robust performance

2.3 EcoBoost From Last-gen Ford Ranger Raptor
While the 2.3 EcoBoost is a carry-over engine from the previous gen model and puts out 300 BHP and 420 Nm of torque, the diesel is a completely new engine. It’s a 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel that puts out 170 BHP and 405 Nm of torque. Both the engines come with Ford’s 10-speed Automatic gearbox. Something interesting to note here is that the diesel engine in the XLT trim used to be the only engine option of the previous gen Ranger Raptor. It is also important to note that 4WD will only be offered with the diesel in the base XLT guise. The 2.3 EcoBoost shall only get 4WD with the Wildtrak model.

To Rival Toyota Hilux Adventure and Others
For quite some time, the midsize truck segment in the country has been relatively stagnant due to limited options. However, there has been a recent surge in interest with new launches aiming to appeal to the urban crowd. The lower variants of Ford Ranger will directly rival popular models like the Peugeot Landtrek and Toyota Hilux Adventure. In fact, even the upcoming Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon will be in Ranger’s crosshairs. All the action should invigorate the mid-size truck market and offer consumers a wider range of options
