The American carmaker has promised to keep offering aftersales support for its over 10 lakh customers in India even after stopping the manufacturing of cars here.
Ford is ensuring that there are substantial aftersales services for the Indian customers even after discontinuing production here. The American carmaker shocked its customers back in September 2021 when it decided to exit India as a mass-market player. It had to do that because the company had already suffered huge losses in the Indian market. According to some reports, Ford lost around $2 Billion in India. However, it must be noted that it has not completely left the Indian market. It will keep importing niche products like the Mustang, Mach E, etc. Ford has also promised that it will retain almost 90% of its aftersales touchpoints in the country.

Ford Promises Aftersales Services After Discontinuing Production in India
Recently, Ford came up with an advertisement for India. The aim of this ad is to offer the customers some peace of mind regarding the servicing aspect of Ford vehicles. People have raised concerns regarding difficulties they will face when the service centres get shut down, especially in the smaller cities. Also, Ford cars owners were worried about the cost of maintenance since there is no one to keep a check on the service centres. But so far, many examples have shown that Ford service centres are not taking advantage of this situation and are offering genuine services. While the showrooms are shutting down, the service centres are most likely to keep operating with spare parts availability and warrant support as before for the foreseeable future.

Such cases are rare that a carmaker takes their customers into account after leaving the market completely. We have seen that with Chevrolet. It left India suddenly and completely. However, spare parts and services are still being offered for its customers. That is why it is a bit unlikely that Ford cars will not receive professional maintenance and service support even if Ford has left the market. We could only hope that service centre owners keep their promise and the customers keep getting the service support without any disadvantage of quality and cost.
