Fatigue Primary Cause of Crash
As reported by the owner, the incident occurred late at night when he and two of his friends were travelling on the Ropar-Manali highway. He said that all three of them started feeling sleepy when they were near Ropar. Unfortunately, the driver could not concentrate and lost control of the vehicle, and the car overturned on the side of the road and crashed. Despite this, all the passengers were safe. The primary cause of the accident was fatigue as the owner had been driving the vehicle for more than 12 hours, due to which he lost concentration, and the accident occurred.
The incident was recorded on the dashboard camera of the car. As per the camera records, the vehicle was running at a speed of about 70 km/h at the time of the accident. The Ford Figo is seen heavily damaged after multiple rollovers. The car’s roof has been ripped off, but all the pillars are intact. The airbags also deployed and saved the passengers. The owner even took a pic of himself with the overturned car and posted it online. Sadly, Ford has left the Indian market and sells no vehicle here. However, it is worth noting that most of the brand’s service centers are still active in the country.

Hypothermia a Major Cause of Mishaps
NHAI has done several studies on NH2, which passes through West Bengal. In their study, it was found that about 60% of accidents happen due to road hypothermia. This study was done between Barakpur and Dakuni which are straight and smooth roads of the country. It also acted as a wake-up call for officers and motorists. We have often mentioned that a driver should not drive if he is drowsy, which can lead to a big mishap. In such a situation, the driver’s mind slows down and tends to fall asleep, which leads to such acts on the highways. Accidents can be reduced by taking regular breaks after parking at a safe place.
