Ford Figo Cross Launch in the Offing
Hatchbacks turned crossovers isn’t something new to our market. We have already seen the Polo, Etios Liva, i20 go under the knife and come out with SUV-esque features and it seems the new Figo hatchback could be next in line to get the ‘cross’ treatment. Ford hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but there have been many speculations related to the Ford Figo Cross launch abounding on the cyber space. Ford launched the new Figo in India in the second half of 2015 and although it has been received well, it still lags behind rivals like the Swift and Grand i10. A ‘cross’ variant could give sales a boost and, at the same time, help fend off competition from the new Mahindra KUV100. Based on whatever information we have right now, here are some more details on the Ford Figo Cross Launch, Price in India and Specifications.

Ford Figo Cross Launch
Ford is yet to reveal its Auto Expo lineup and with the event right around the corner there is a good chance the Figo Cross might be showcased at Ford’s pavilion. The manufacturer might launch the Figo Cross in the first half of 2016.
Ford Figo Cross Price in India
We expect the Cross variant to command a price premium of around 40-50,000. However, Ford might choose to offer the cross variant only in the mid and top level trims. Prices in India might start at INR 5.5 lacs.
Ford Figo Cross Design
The Figo’s cross treatment will be more along the lines of the CrossPolo and Etios Cross. It will not be as comprehensive as the Avventura. Expect the designers at Ford to add body cladding to the bumpers and wheel arches, coupled with faux skid plates and roof rails. The chrome grille might be ditched for a more rugged all black mesh. The alloy wheel design might also be new and a switch to bigger tyres will help the overall crossover-like appearance.
