There is no official confirmation about this information, but several people from automobile arena and some automobile journalists are saying that Ford India will launch the all new Ford Fiesta 2011 on 14th April 2011 in Delhi. There is an event hosted by Ford India in Delhi on 14th April for which it has invited many auto journalists, but there is no information in the invite about the event details. So there are high chances that the Fiesta 2011 may actually be launched. On 7th April, Ford is launching the Ford Fiesta Classic at Chennai and precisely one week after, in another event in Delhi, it maybe the all new Ford Fiesta 2011 Facelifted version!
The mystery will anyways unfold in a weeks time, but if the information is true, it will give an early bird advantage to Ford Fiesta over the Hyundai Verna RB which is also due for launch soon. There is expected to be ahead on competition among these sedans, viz. Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna RB, Volkswagen Vento, Fiat Linea, Maruti SX4, Toyota Etios, Tata Indigo Manza etc.. The all new Fiesta will also feature a Diesel engine option which is a must have for the car makers to keep the competition going. Its because of the same reason Maruti had to bring the SX4 Diesel variant.
The all new Ford Fiesta 2011 will feature 1.6 Litre VVTI MPFI Petrol engine churning out a nice 118BHP of power and a 1.6 Litre TDCI Duratorq Turbocharged CRDI Diesel Engine with 90 BHP of peak power. Both the diesel and petrol variants will be mated to 5 speed manual transmission. There is no indication of an Automatic transmission variant as yet, but until something official comes out, a possibility can not be ruled out. Also there are rumors of new Fiesta having ABS as standard which is a great safety feature especially for unsafe roads of India. We will soon post more details as soon as the official word comes out.
