Ford has been tight lipped on the engine options of the all new model of Ford Fiesta 2011 which is due for launch in July 2011. Recently in an event held at Bangalore, Ford has revealed the engine specifications which come as surprise to the automobile media as we were expecting a 1.6 Litre engine. The new Ford Fiesta 2011 will be powered by 1.5 Litre engine with two options. The 1.5 Litre Ti-VCT Petrol MPFI Engine with 108.5 BHP of power and the 1.5 Litre Duratorq with an inter-cooled turbocharger with a max power of about 90 BHP.

Ford Fiesta 2011 Petrol
The Ford Fiesta 2011 petrol variant is powered by a 1.5 Litre petrol engine with a dual VVTI technology which control the intake and exhaust valve-trains independently optimizing the flow of charge and exhaust gases from the engine to fetch the maximum power and efficiency from the engine. VVTI technology is usually used on intake side in most engines, but with a dual or twin-VVTI arrangement, the efficiency and power both get improved. This is the reason for a 1.5 Litre petrol engine to be able to deliver 108.5 BHP of peak power and an impressive 140 Nm of torque. On the transmission side, the new Fiesta 2011 petrol will come with a 5 speed Manual transmission option only as of now with the automatic options to be launched later in 2011. The ARAI certified mileage of the Fiesta 2011 is 17 KMPL for 1.5 Litre petrol engine with manual transmission gearbox.
Ford Fiesta 2011 Diesel
The Ford Fiesta 2011 Diesel variant is powered by a 1.5 Litre turbocharged CRDI diesel engine with an inter-cooled turbocharging arrangement which improved the power as well as efficiency. The diesel engine will provide a peak power of 90 BHP but a high torque of 204 Nm at lower RPM which will mean lesser gearshifts in congested city traffic. The fuel efficiency figures of 1.5 Litre Diesel with 5 Speed Manual transmission gearbox is an impressive 23.5 KMPL of Diesel as certified by the ARAI.
