While the Endeavour was the largest Ford ever sold in India, the carmaker has been America’s truck leader for 44 years straight
Even though the Endeavour (aka Everest) is the largest Ford ever sold in India, there have been multiple sightings of the carmaker’s full-size pickup trucks on our home turf. Mostly, these have been privately imported for a temporary period via ATA Carnet. For the uninitiated, it is an international customs document that enables an individual to temporarily export/import commodity without having paying duty or VAT. Interestingly, though, the couple of Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks spotted in Hyderabad recently seem to be private imports. What’s even more intriguing is that while one of the two vehicles bears a local registration, the other seems brand spanking new and unregistered.

2022 Ford F-Series Super Duty Seen in India!
Internationally, the Ford F-Series Super Duty is sold in a MY2023 iteration that carries a handful of updates over the MY2022 version spotted in Hyderabad. The exact specs of the two trucks seen here are unknown but both seem to be of the same trim level. The Super Duty lineup has been one of the most successful range of pickups from the American carmaker. While the current generation was launched in 2017, it has received several updates on a regular basis. For the 2022 version, the truck received a new styling pack called Lariat Sport Appearance Package.
Inside, this version received a bigger, 12-inch infotainment screen. It runs Ford’s SYNC 4 system that brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the table. The rest of the cabin was left untouched. Even the performance hardware saw no updates. The 2022 Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup truck is propelled by a 7.3-litre V8 petrol engine that outputs a maximum power of 430 hp and a peak torque of 644 Nm. Another engine option that’s available is that of a 6.7-litre Power Stroke diesel mill that pumps out 475 hp and a massive 1423 torques in the highest spec.

What We Think?
Ford India wrapped up its local production operations back in July 2022. The retail operations continued until the stocks dried up. The American carmaker decided to give up on our market after a 25-year-long stint that saw it struggling to acquire a sizeable market share. Even though it continues to serve the existing customers through a sufficiently widespread after-sales network, there are no plans to resume retail operations. As mentioned, most of the sightings of models from its truck range have been of the UAE-registered vehicles brought to us via Carnet. In this case, though, the two Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks seem to be private imports by an organisation. ICAT, for instance, uses a Super Duty for tyre testing purposes. The two trucks could have been bought to India for similar purposes.
