- Prior to quitting manufacturing cars in India, Ford had planned to introduce the 2021 facelift for the EcoSport.
- As per a recent image, it looks like the facelifted model was sold to a private buyer
- This model features some aesthetic changes including a more aggressive front fascia.
As per an image, the second facelift for Ford EcoSport that was never launched has been seen on a public road. It must be noted that the company decided to stop its operations in our market last year (2021). At the time, there were reports of the facelifted version of the compact SUV tested on the roads being ready for launch. Needless to say, that never happened as the American carmaker decided to pull out of the Indian market owing to net losses of over $2 Billion US since commencing its operations back in 1995.

This image has been shared in Ford EcoSport Club India group on Facebook. There were reports about this facelift model performing test runs over a year ago when the plans of launching it were on. One can clearly see that the front fascia is more aggressive than the model that existed back then. The grille is quite broad and blacked out with the Ford logo sitting in the centre, the headlamps are quite sharp, the fog lamp housing is prominent as well and the bumper looks rugged and solid. The available information suggests that this is actually a few years old model with modified bumpers and alloys. .

Since this compact SUV has a proper registration plate, anyone’s first guess would be that this model was sold to a private buyer. However, it turns out some enthusiast has bought a lot of kits from the factory. The same are being sold in Chennai. The changing of the front fascia certainly makes it quite a special product as it makes the compact SUV look much different from what was officially sold here. However, it’s for sure that these conversion kits would be in limited numbers, which means finding a replacement for repairs could be tricky. It would’ve been nice if Ford had launched this as a special edition product officially.

Prior to discontinuation, the powertrain options included a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine good for 120 hp and 149 Nm and the 1.5-litre diesel engine makes 100 hp and 215 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. There are options of either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It is most likely that this facelift model features a similar powertrain as the pre-facelift models.
