Earlier this month, we reported how there’s a pretty big waiting period for the Ford Ecosport even though the demand is nothing really to write home about. The reason for this was the semi-conductor shortage that affected almost every carmaker in the country. It must be noted here that the EcoSport is about to receive its second facelift and chances are that the new model will be launched by October this year. And in a new development, it has come to light that certain dealers are even refusing delivery of Ecosport booked over a month ago and are instead asking the customers to wait for the facelift. The sad part here is that the said dealers aren’t even ready to divulge any information on the upcoming model. This has left the customer with no option but to contemplate buying some other car instead.

As can be seen in the image above, one Y.S. Rohit booked a top-spec Ford Ecosport back in July this year and was promised delivery this month. However, the dealer later told to wait more as the current EcoSport can’t be delivered and that the upcoming facelift will be delivered instead. However, the biggest issue here is that the dealer has been totally tight-lipped about what one can expect from the facelift. Ford is known to regularly trim down the features list of its vehicles and the customer has been left wondering if the upcoming update would also lead to omission of some features from the variant he has booked. Rohit has also approached the carmaker through various social media channels but he hasn’t been given any reply yet. In such a scenario, it’s obvious that anyone would contemplate buying some other vehicle.
It must be noted here that the second facelift for the Ford Ecosport has already been spied sans camouflage. The refreshed model will offer 7-shaped LED DRLs on the bumper, while the front grille will be completely redesigned. It will even feature enough chrome around it along with even having gloss black elements. Furthermore, the front-end will carry a sporty skid plate and new headlamps. The rear-end is likely to stay unchanged while the only update for the side profile will come in form of a set of new alloy wheels.

The engine options will be carried over from the current version, which means the petrol variant will be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that will output a maximum power of 120 hp and a peak torque of 149 Nm. Meanwhile, the diesel version will be propelled by a 1.5-litre motor that outputs 100 hp and 215 Nm. Transmission options for the petrol model will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the oil-burner will be offered only with a manual unit. Like the current car, the facelift will rival Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and others.
