Ford EcoSport 2012 Unveiled Officially – Pictures, Videos, Specs, Features and Price
Ford has previously announced of launching 8 new models in the country by 2015 of which the first was the recent 2011 Ford Fiesta. Besides the same a couple of models like Ford Focus, Ford Mondeo and the recently spotted Ford Fiesta Hatchback.
Ford has also mentioned many a times that a couple of new models will also be introduced in the market. Now the Focus and Mondeo are no volumes puller and therefore some interesting product is definitely expected from the major. Ford EcoSport is one such car, from the compact SUV segment, which we think will definitely arrive in India, probably early next year.
What makes this car special is that it shares its platform and many of the components with the Fiesta. The car, since its launch in 2004, has been ruling the market in Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Mexico and even bagged a place in the top ten car’s list in Brazil.

The car is available with 1.6 Liter and 2.0 Liter petrol and diesel engines outside India but for the Indian market it will specifically carry the 2011 Fiesta’s 1.5-liter DuraTorq diesel engine which produces 90 BHP of max power and 204 Nm of peak torque.

As far as the above mentioned markets are concerned, it competes with cars like Fiat Palio Weekend/Adventure and Volkswagen CrossFox there which are unfamiliar to the Indian market but in our market it will face the very successful Tata Safari and yet to be launched Renault Duster.

We already know that the Duster will be priced low in competition with Safari and Mahindra Scorpio and interestingly the Ford EcoSport is also expected to be priced between Rs. 8 and Rs. 10 Lakh. If Ford prices the car correctly then we might see the car emerging as successful as the Figo in the small car segment.
