Ford Ecosport Ecoboost starts at a price of Rs 10.83 lakh and comes with 6-speed MT
The joint venture of Ford and Mahindra for the engines, SUVs, electric vehicles and connected technologies is not new. What’s recent from this venture is that the EcoBoost engine sported in Ford Ecosport gets will be replaced by the Mahindra’s 1.2-Litre TGDI engine in 2020.
With the new BS-VI emission norms coming in, various car manufacturers are being affected and many are shifting to BS-VI engines even before the final dates. The recent affected model is the Ecosport by Ford. The 999cc, a turbocharged petrol engine is imported and the cost of upgrading it to BS-VI is quite an expensive affair.
The Ecoboost engine will hence be replaced by the 1.2-litre TGDI engine from Mahindra. Not only the power and torque figures are more than the imported engine but also offers an ease of comfort that the engine is locally made.

Currently, Ford Ecoboost engine generates a total of 124 bhp with a healthy torque of 170 Nm. The direct-injection petrol motor churns out 130 bhp with 230 Nm of peak torque. Mahindra XUV300 is also expected to get this new turbo GDI engine with more or less same power output figures.
Ford has recently brought in the Thunder edition to the Ecosport for both petrol and diesel engine. The new edition gets 17-inch alloy wheels, blacked out rear mirrors, dual-tone bonnet, blacked-out front grille and decals on the side for the aesthetic appeal to the compact SUV. The interiors now receive cognac accents over the front seats and the centre console.
Ford Ecosport gets three engine options – the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine, a 1.5-L TiVCT engine and a 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine. The naturally aspirated engine gets a choice of 6-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission while the diesel engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The EcoBoost engine gets a 6-speed transmission.

Power figures remain at 121 bhp with 150 Nm of peak torque for the 1.5-litre petrol engine. The Ecoboost gives 124 bhp on tap with 170 Nm of torque while the diesel generates 99 bhp with 200 Nm of torque.
The prices for the Ford Ecosport starts from Rs 7.69 lakh for the base variant and goes up to Rs 11.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
