In an interesting development, a Ford dealer was seen selling a Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Alto and Dzire. This indicates the kind of time we will witness in the future. Ford had recently announced that it has ceased manufacturing all the cars in India. The few still being produced for exports will stop in a while too. It was becoming evident with low sales and the news of Ford trying to sell its manufacturing plant to other OEMs. However, the news came as a shock to many customers who were not updated with the latest development in the Indian automobile industry. Now, the customers are facing difficult times as the showrooms are shutting down day by day and the service workshops are getting scarce. Although the carmaker had promised to keep the service going on for at least 10 years, the ground reality is a bit different. Let us discuss the matter in detail.

Ford Dealer Selling Maruti Baleno
As is seen in the image above, this dealership, named Chakrapani Ford, is selling Maruti Baleno. Parker alongside is the Alto 800 as well. This is a clear sign that the future of this showroom will go with Maruti Suzuki products. This is not a rare incident where a dealership has taken multiple companies. Many owners have multiple dealerships to ensure security in scenarios like this. In fact, many owners have even 4 or 5 dealerships too. However, the owners with just the Ford dealerships will face a challenging time as there won’t be any more cars to sell after they go out of the remaining stock. Ford will be operational in India via niche imported products like Mustangs, Mach E and Ranger/Raptor pick-up trucks in the coming time.

Here is what the customers and other people have to say about this news. As mentioned in the comments, no one is really surprised by this and they knew that such things happen relatively often. They also understand that the owner of the dealership has to make a living and he/she can’t go down with the carmaker. That is why a lot of them have multiple dealerships so that if one car company fails or decides to exit the country, they can carry on with their business through other products from other carmakers. Hence, Ford dealer selling Maruti cars is not a surprise to anyone but a natural consequence.
