A latest video clip has emerged which shows a complete walkaround tour of the Force Gurkha 5-door in real life. Gurkha is a prominent affordable off-roading SUV. It has been around for a long time in our market. It is particularly revered among the off-roading community. Up until last year, it only had the Mahindra Thar as its sole rival. But now, the buyers even get the option to go for the Maruti Jimny 5-door. In fact, the 5-door Thar is also on its way. That is what made Force come up with a 5-door iteration of the Gurkha too.

Force Gurkha 5-Door Walkaround Video
This video comes from INESH KUMAWAT on YouTube. It captures thorough real-life footage of the upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door. On the outside, it bears a resemblance with the iconic Mercedes G-Wagon to some extent. There are round headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, turn indicators mounted on the edges of the bonnet, Gurkha lettering on the broad grille, a rugged bumper with fog lamps and a working snorkel on the side for improved water-wading capabilities. On the sides, there are prominent wheel arches with black cladding, a solid luggage carrier on the roof, side steps for easier ingress and egress, 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, boot lid-mounted spare tyre, vertical taillamps, a compact ladder and rugged bumper. I feel the Gurkha looks butch enough to grab people’s attention.
Interior and Features
The first thing to notice on the inside is the availability of a 7-seat layout. It will enhance the practicality of the new Gurkha substantially. I believe that it will be its biggest advantage over its rivals. Apart from that, the overall cabin layout and amenities are bare basic. There are 2 airbags, a bench seat in the middle row, two captain seats in the third row, a compact touchscreen infotainment display, a 4×4 gear lever in the centre, functional and utilitarian steering wheel, dashboard, AC vents and other components.

Specs
What will also likely remain the same is what powers the Gurkha at the moment. I expect the familiar Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre turbo diesel engine to continue in the 5-door version as well. It is good for 91 hp and 250 Nm of peak power and torque. The sole 5-speed manual transmission will also complement this engine. It will be a full-time 4×4 SUV designed for abuse off the tarmac. At present, the Gurkha is available in single trim which costs Rs 15.10 lakh, ex-showroom. The 5-door version will bear a rather significant premium over this price.
Author’s Note
I believe that the 5-door version of the Force Gurkha has been overdue for a long time now. I still remember writing about the test mule a couple of years ago. Somehow it took a long time for Force to actually come up with this iteration. Still, since the Mahindra is also yet to launch the Thar in a 5-door guise, the ship has not sailed yet for Force. I am quite excited to witness the launch of the new Gurkha and how well customers respond to it.
