The much-awaited Force Gurkha 5-door has been seen testing in the latest news. It is the sole significant competitor in the market to the mighty Thar. The Thar played a pivotal role in cultivating people’s enthusiasm for off-roading and stands as the premier off-road vehicle in its category. Among its peers, only the Gurkha manages to deliver comparable capabilities at an affordable price. Nonetheless, due to its simplistic interior and limited features, the Gurkha has struggled to surpass the Thar’s sales figures. With the upcoming 5-door Gurkha, at least it will be more practical than the Thar. Here are the details.

Force Gurkha 5-Door Spotted
These latest spy images come from 95pistons on Instagram. They capture a heavily camouflaged 5-door iteration of the Gurkha. As per the information in the caption of this post, this comes from somewhere in Valsad, Gujarat. While the body is under wraps, it is clear that this is a soft-top version. Also, the alloy wheels and side steps are evident. At the rear, we are also able to make out vertical taillamps and a rugged bumper. A prominent tow hook is also visible in the images. It is a crucial component for off-roading excursions. All in all, it looks quite sturdy and butch, just like the existing model.

Specs
Although there is no official confirmation regarding the specifications, our estimation is that it will feature the identical engine found in the standard Gurkha model. This particular engine is the Mercedes-derived 2.6-litre diesel variant, generating 91 hp and 250 Nm of maximum power and torque. It is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and supports a 4×4 drivetrain, ensuring its off-road prowess. It is possible that Force calibrates this engine to make higher power, but nothing is confirmed yet.

Force Gurkha is the only inexpensive off-roader with the capabilities to match that of the iconic Thar. However, its barebones cabin and lacklustre features list has kept it from getting massive sales. Nevertheless, there are a lot of hardcore off-roading enthusiasts who still prefer it over the Thar. Hence, for those ardent fans, the 5-door version would make a lot of sense. It will offer more practicality. Currently, the window of the second row is fixed. With the 5-door version, that will change as well. Apart from that, Force has reportedly been working on various SUVs based on the Gurkha platform like the pickup truck. We shall see what is in store for us in times to come.
