Tata Motors has unveiled the Nexon EV in India, which is slated to be launched early next year. Here are some highlights you need to know about the E-SUV.
Marching to the EV Space, Tata Motors has unveiled the Nexon EV in India. It is based on a completely new platform and electric technology, that will also power future Tata EVs. The launch of E-Nexon is slated to happen in January 2020.
Tata Nexon EV also makes way for the Nexon facelift, which will also be launched next year with BS-6 compliant engines. Here are five highlights of the EV that you should know before considering buying:

Driving Range
Tata Motors is yet to reveal the official range, but they say that it will be above 300 kms. Also remains unknown if their claimed mileage is from real-world testing or ARAI-claimed. In case if its ARAI-claimed, expect it to be down by 20-30% in real-world driving conditions.
Battery Specifications And Electric Motor
Nexon EV gets a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion IP67 rated battery pack with liquid cooling. The electric motor is able to punch out 95 kW (129 BHP) and 245 Nm of peak torque, with a single-speed transmission. You can also select between two driving modes – Drive and Sport. In the sport mode, you get a power boost of up to 60%.
Variants And Features
Tata is offering the Nexon EV in three variants – XM, XZ and XZ+ Luxury. These are just like variants of the regular Nexon. The top-end variant comes with features such as:

Charging Solution
Tata Motors will be providing standard AC chargers for home or offices, with the Nexon EV. The charger will come completely free of cost and will fully charge the Nexon in 6-8 hours. Use of a DC fast charger is also available on Nexon, which will charge from 0-80% in under an hour. This will be done at public charging stations.
Price And Competition
The prices will be announced in January 2020, around the time when media drives are happening. Tata Motors has confirmed that it will be priced between Rs 15-17 Lakhs. As of now, it will face no competition in its price range. Hyundai Kona EV and MG ZS EV are two other electric SUVs, but they will demand over 20 Lakhs. Mahindra is developing the electric XUV300, which should be unveiled next year.
