The electric coupe marks a new age in Mahindra’s electric future
The first crash of the Mahindra XEV 9e has been recorded. The XEV 9e boasts the highest safety ratings in the Adult Occupant Protection category at the Bharat NCAP ever. That already makes it intriguing to see how well it performed in a real-life accident. XEV and BE are the new sub-brands from Mahindra for its new breed of EVs. Based on the INGLO platform, the electric SUVs are designed for global markets. Hence, these carry the latest tech and convenience amenities to pamper the customers. First Crash of Mahindra XEV 9e
This video stems from safecars_india on Instagram. The visuals capture the aftermath of a rather severe accident. The electric SUV has sustained heavy damage on the left side. This includes the side fender, the passenger door, the rear door and the area around the left taillamp. It is unclear how this crash occurred. In any case, the side pillar has absorbed the impact well, preventing damage inside the cabin. The side airbags were also deployed. We can only hope that no one got injured in this terrible event.
Mahindra XEV 9e Bharat NCAP
The Mahindra XEV 9e bagged a full 5-star safety rating at the Bharat NCAP both in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) sections. To quantify things, it received a full 32 points out of 32 in AOP and 45 points out of 49 in COP. The list of standard safety features includes 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts at the rear, a seatbelt pretensioner, a seatbelt load-limiter, an airbag cut-off switch, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection (AIS-100) and seatbelt reminder.
Furthermore, the electric coupe SUV was able to secure 16 points out of 16 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 16 points out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. Also, the Side Pole Impact Pole Test was rated โOKโ. Additionally, in the COP category, it scored a Dynamic Score of 24 out of 24, a CRS Installation Score of 12 out of 12 and a Vehicle Assessment Score of 9 out of 13 for a total of 45 points out of a possible 49. All these are good for a full 5-star safety rating in both departments.
