Post the inauguration of the impressive Atal Setu (MTHL – Mumbai Trans Harbour Link), the first accident has been reported of a Maruti Ignis. Atal Setu is a colloquial name of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Trans Harbour Link. It is the longest sea bridge in India at 21.8 km. It connects Navi Mumbai to Mumbai. There have been tons of news flooding the internet about the mighty achievement of the country with this engineering marvel. However, this crash of a pre-facelift Maruti Ignis is a reminder that we must follow traffic regulations at all times.

Accident of Maruti Ignis on Atal Setu
The visuals come from Zee 24 Taas on YouTube. Many other regional news channels have covered this occurrence. The video clip shows the entire incident from a dashcam of a car travelling on the bridge. The red Ignis was spotted overtaking this car from the left. However, due to some reason, its driver lost control and the vehicle veered from the left side of the car to the right. In fact, it crossed the front of this car at high speed, barely missing it. Finally, the car hit the divider and toppled over multiple times. At some distance, it came to a halt.

Talking about injuries and damage, the occupants didn’t suffer any major injuries, which is great. After hitting the divided from the right side, the windshield, fender, roof and other components have been impacted. A case of reckless driving has been filed against the driver of this Ignis at the Nhava Sheva Police Station in Navi Mumbai. There have been other incidents on this sea bridge within just 10 days of its opening. This includes people travelling on it in autorickshaws even though mopeds, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, tractors, trolleys, and animal-driven vehicles are prohibited. Also, some people were spotted taking selfies despite the fact that vehicles are not allowed to stop on this bridge.
