The Fiat Tipo (aka Fiat Egea) is the global replacement of the Linea. It made its public debut at the 2015 Istanbul Motor Show. It went on sale in Italy later that year (as the Tipo) and then to Turkey (as the Egea). The Tipo is now expected to launch in India. Here, in India, the Egea will replace the slow-selling Linea to rival the likes of the Maruti Ciaz and Honda City. It’s no secret that the Linea hasn’t really been able to set sales charts on fire. Fiat India could be now planning to launch the Egea, at almost the same price point, to once again try its hand at cracking the C2 segment. Read on for full details on Fiat Tipo India launch date and price.

We’ve always loved the Linea for its clean lines and an understated sense of elegance. The Tipo (Eaga), however, looks a lot sportier and even a bit radical in comparison. The new sedan’s design is courtesy of FCA Style Centre in Italy. The car is currently being produced at the manufacturer’s Bursa factory in Turkey. This manufacturing facility produces cars for more than 40 worldwide markets. Upon its India launch, the car will be produced at the company’s Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.
Fiat Tipo India Launch Date
Launch Date (expected) | Late 2018 |
Currently there’s no official word on the India launch date of the Tipo. However, we’re hoping to see this car at the Auto Expo 2018. Subsequently, the manufacturer will probably launch the car in India in late-2018. It may be noted here that the Linea has by now lost whatever little popularity it initially enjoyed. The need of the hour now is an all-new model that has a better shot at out-classing strong rivals like the Ciaz and the City. Hence, it makes a lot of sense for Fiat India to introduce the Tipo here.
Fiat Tipo Price in India
Model | Expected Price |
Base | Rs 8 lakh |
Top | Rs 12 lakh |
While prices of the upcoming new Fiat sedan in India will be announced only at the time of its launch, it’s pretty much for sure that the Tipo will be slightly pricier than the Linea. Base model is likely to cost around Rs 8 lakh, while the top-end variant could cost up to Rs 12 lakh. Let’s not forget that Fiat India, unlike Maruti Suuzki India Ltd., is never ultra-aggressive with the way it prices its models. Hence, even with the Tipo, we’re unlike to have an super-aggressive pricing strategy.

Fiat Tipo Exterior & Interior Design Review
The Tipo was conceived as a sedan and later turned into a hatchback. This ensures a proper 3-box shape that is rather pleasing to the eyes. Up front, you get wraparound headlights flanking a very interestingly detailed front grille. Designers have added just the right amount of chrome to make it look classy. There is a strong shoulder line that flows from the headlamp right to the tail lamp. At the back, you get c-shaped tail lamps, a thin strip of chrome and a blacked out lower bumper housing the reflector units.
Fiat has done a great job with the interiors of the Tipo/Egea. The dashboard layout is very driver-centric. The integrated audio unit sits very high, at the same level as the speedo and tacho. Designers have employed a black colour scheme for the cabin with silver highlights. There is one running across the dashboard and some on the steering wheel as well. Bear in mind, this isn’t the India-spec version so the actual design may vary in terms of colour scheme and materials used.
Fiat Tipo India – Features
Among the highlight of the new car’s features list is a Fiat UConnect infotainment system that comes with a 5-inch display and steering-mounted controls. This modern infotainment system supports TomTom satellite navigation, Bluetooth controlled telephony options, text message reader, wireless audio streaming, USB/Aux/iPod connectivity and voice recognition. Also a part of this system us the optional rear view camera.
