Fiat India has been facing a hard time in the market mainly because of two reasons. Firstly the lagging sales and secondly the not so pleasing venture with the India major Tata Motors. As far as the sales are concerned its up to Fiat how it could handle this problem and get maximum units out of its plant, delivered to the customers.
The other problem has been addressed by Mr. Ratan Tata lately when he called for a reexamination of the current joint venture as several serious problems were surfacing like unsatisfactory treatment of Fiat cars at the service centers and less number of Fiat models on display in showrooms.
In order to sort these issues out Fiat is finally considering bringing newer models to the Indian automobile market and will also redefine its distribution strategy. The Italian major even called Fiat Spa officials to India to help them build new strategies so to bring the brand to the list of market leaders which it actually deserves.
Fiat is also ready to open its own exclusive showrooms across in no association with Tata Motors. It doesn’t mean that that the companies will disassociate completely but Fiat will try to boost its sales through this additional dealership network. So far only Fiat Linea and Fiat Grande Punto are there at the warfront but we believe we would see new models from the brand soon.
Highly expected models include a new Fiat Grande Punto EVO along with a face-lifted Linea. Besides this in 2012, a new small car is also expected which would play the most important role for the brand so far, as it would be cheaper than the current upmarket offerings.
