The much anticipated Fiat Egea (Linea successor) was unveiled in its final production-spec form last year. The latest sedan from the popular Italian car manufacturer has been designed by the FCA Style Centre and was developed in Turkey by more than 2,000 members of the Fiat Group over a period of three years. The latest Fiat sedan will be produced at the manufacturer’s Tofas plant in Bursa, Turkey, from where it will be exported to more than 40 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. We expect Fiat to bring the Egea (Tipo) to India by the end of 2017. Here, in this report, we have put together all the details on the new Fiat Egea India launch, price, specifications and more.

Fiat Egea India Launch Date
Fiat India hasn’t been very vocal about any new car launches in India, let alone the Fiat Egea India launch. The sedan wasn’t even showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in February. However, we expect Fiat to bring the Egea, or Tipo as it is known in some markets, to India by the end of 2017 or early 2018. Currently, FCA is concentrating on bringing the Jeep brand to India. That will be followed by the India launch of the Linea 125 S and Urban Cross, both of which are based on existing models. The Egea or Tipo is widely expected to be Fiat’s first completely new offering in years.
Camouflaged test mules are usually good indicators of an impending launch. Since they are yet to be spotted on Indian roads, we’re not expecting Fiat to bring the Egea to India in a hurry. Also, currently the car is only manufactured in the LHD format and investing in an RHD version just for the Indian market might not make sense.
Fiat Egea Price in India
Fiat Egea should cost somewhere in the INR 7.5 lacs to INR 11 lacs region in India. Currently, the Linea is priced from INR 6.46 lacs to INR 10.63 lacs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Egea will definitely be more expensive than the Linea, which it will replace.

Fiat Egea Design & Styling
Exterior
The Egea was developed as a sedan first and then turned into a hatchback. This ensures a proper 3-box shape that is rather pleasing to the eyes. Up front, you got wraparound headlamps flanking a very interestingly detailed front grille. Designers have added just the right amount of chrome to make it look classy. There is a strong shoulder line that flows from the headlamp right to the tail lamp. At the back, you get c-shaped tail lamps, a thin strip of chrome and a blacked out lower bumper housing the reflector units.
Interior
Fiat has done a great job with the interiors of the Tipo/Egea. The dashboard layout is very driver-centric. The integrated audio unit sits very high, at the same level as the speedo and tacho. Designers have employed a black colour scheme for the cabin with silver highlights. There is one running across the dashboard and some on the steering wheel as well. Bear in mind, this isn’t the India-spec version so the actual design may vary in terms of colour scheme and materials used.
Fiat Egea Features
Among the highlight of the new car’s features list is a Fiat UConnect infotainment system that comes with a 5-inch display and steering-mounted controls. This modern infotainment system supports TomTom satellite navigation, Bluetooth controlled telephony options, text message reader, wireless audio streaming, USB/Aux/iPod connectivity and voice recognition. Also a part of this system us the optional rear view camera.
