Here is a rather unusual incident of a fake dealer scamming people by selling Ford cars even when the company has stopped manufacturing cars in India. People keep coming up with creative ways to commit fraud to make money. This attempt has to be one of the most stupid ways to dupe people. Many Ford loyalists have been disappointed not to get their favourite Ford cars anymore. Taking advantage of this, one dealer has put in place quite an extensive scheme to commit fraud. Fake Dealer Scamming People
This conversation was shared with us by someone who caught this dealer red-handed. The messages show that the dealer is asking for the details of the buyers, along with the details of the vehicle they want. He/She is also giving out a fake address where the dealership is supposed to be and will deliver the vehicle. In addition to the details of the cars and variants, he/she is also offering 3 years warranty, 8 years service availability, finance arrangement and asking for some kind of extra charges for registration for temporary registration.
The main point to consider here is that he/she is asking for 12% as the booking price which is ridiculous. The balance amount must be paid at the time of delivery, he says. This is quite clearly a scam and fraud because the booking amount is hardly around Rs 20,000 for any small car and maybe Rs 50,000 for a full-size SUV.

The images below indicate the fraud as the fake dealer has made a list of colours of all the models and variants of the vehicles. However, in reality, Ford has stopped manufacturing all vehicles in India since September. Some dealers had some inventory left but that is also about to come to an end. But this dealer offers all sorts of vehicles, colours and variants. The dealer has also prepared the price list for each variant of every car along with on-road prices. The apparent name of the dealership is Infinity Motors and we urge you to be aware of such fraudulent practices by a few dealers. Ford has officially stopped manufacturing cars in India and after the inventory at the dealerships runs out, there won’t be any new cars coming from the American carmakers apart from the luxury cars as imports.
