Elon Musk’s ambitious SpaceX company launched his Tesla Roadster into space in 2018 with a dummy astronaut in the driver’s seat. What is its location in the orbit today?
The location of the Tesla Roadster of Elon Musk can be gauged even today. It was sent into orbit by Musk’s company, SpaceX in 2018. In fact, in February this year, that incredible feat completed 5 years. Theoretically, the Roadster has been making rounds in the orbit around the sun and various other planets all this while. Curious minds are in constant search to know the exact location of the EV in the space. Since it has officially been registered in the NASA database, it is possible to calculate its location in space.

Location of Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster in Space
This event marked a huge leap in the research and development in space exploration by SpaceX. Tesla, the founder, is the richest man in the world today and is known for his extreme passion for technology and space exploration. He is of the opinion that humans will certainly colonize Mars and establish settlements there. If and when that happens, he wants them to pull out this Tesla Roadster from space (if it survives till then) and place it in a museum there.

The EV has logged more than 2.5 billion miles (4 billion km) in space and had its first close passing with Mars back in 2020. It is calculated that it will pass close to Mars again in 2035. There are not too many chances of it hitting the sun or entering back into the earth. Also, most objects burn even before entering the earth’s atmosphere. Hence, the chances of the debris actually colliding with a human settlement are next to none.

In the NASA database, Musk’s Tesla Roadster has been named object -143205, “SpaceX Roadster (spacecraft)(Tesla)”. If anyone is interested in knowing the simulation of Tesla’s orbit, one can visit the OrbitSimulator website and search for “Roadster”. However, the scientific community does not invest time and resources in determining the exact path or the current location of the EV since it has no scientific value. Let us know your feelings about the Tesla Roadster of Elon Musk and its location in the orbit.
