Honda Elevate continues to be a favourite among Indian customers. In the month of September 2023, it sold more units than the Honda City and Honda Amaze.
Honda continues a strong performance in the Indian market. Last month, it registered a YoY growth of 13.2 per cent. In September 2023, Honda cars sold 9,861 units in India. Last year, the company sold 8,714 units in the same period. It saw an MoM sales surge of just over 25 per cent with 7,880 units sold in August 2023. The Japanese brand also saw growth in terms of market share. It has gone from 2.5 per cent to 2.7 per cent. In terms of overall manufacturers’ sales, Honda cars placed at seventh place.

Honda Elevate Sales
Honda Elevate has emerged as the star model for the brand. It contributed to 58 per cent of Honda’s total sales last month. The mid-size SUV has lived up to its hype as it outsold both Honda Amaze and Honda City. While it sold 2,822 units in August, last month it doubled its sales numbers (5,685 units). This contributed to 58 per cent of the total sales and pushed Honda to achieve over 13 per cent YoY growth. In the first half of FY24, the company registered a YoY negative sales growth of 20 per cent by selling 37,658 units (down from 47,163 units). Meanwhile, the City sold 1,599 units and the Amaze sold 2,577 units.
The Honda Elevate is priced in India at Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base mode. The top-end variant comes at Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Volkswagen Taigun. The five-seater model has successfully managed to stay ahead of its rival. It is bound to play a major role in Honda’s positive YoY growth in the remaining part of this financial year.

Elevate Outsells VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder
In total, Skoda recorded sales of 2,360 units for its popular Kushaq in the previous month. Meanwhile, its counterpart, the VW Taigun, garnered 1,586 sales. This performance reflects the strong market presence of the latest C-SUV compared to the MQB-AO-IN offerings. The Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder sold 3,804 copies. While the segment leaders may not feel significant competition from the Elevate, it’s evident that the less prominent options are facing the heat.
The Honda Elevate is powered by a 1.5L NA four-cylinder VTEC petrol engine that offers 121 PS of maximum power and 145 Nm of peak torque. For transmission, it can be paired with a six-speed MT or a CVT. The midsize SUV is based on the same platform as the fifth-generation City. It borrows design elements from other Honda SUVs like WR-V and CR-V. Additional features include a floating 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-tone cabin theme, six airbags, ADAS tech, and more.
