In this latest case, electric Jeep replicas are being showcased. I have been reporting about replicas of popular sportscars for a long time now. In fact, there has been a case of an electric Willys Jeep as well. But in this case, there are multiple models on offer from different locations. Aftermarket car modification houses have become so popular and talented that they are able to transform any kind of vehicle. Depending on the desires of the customers, they can even change the very nature of an automobile. These electric Jeep replicas are prime examples of that.
Electric Jeep Replicas
The first instance comes from aniljeep432678 on Instagram. The visuals capture 3 electric Jeep replicas parked right next to each other. In this video, the text on the screen says that the price of ordering one of these is just Rs 1.2 lakh. Also, this electric Jeep will be able to run 150 km on a single charge. For a retro-fitted vehicle, that is a lot. The nature of this iconic Jeep is such that people would rarely use it on public roads. Hence, this range should suffice in most scenarios. Also, most likely, this EV won’t be road-legal. Hence, one would only be able to use it as their passion.
The second post also comes from the same Instagram handle, aniljeep432678. However, the kind of electric Jeep this is offering is totally different from the previous model. In fact, this has been constructed out of an old Mahindra Thar. Also, there are tons of hardcore modifications on the Thar to make it look monstrous. The text in this video mentions that it would cost you Rs 2 lakh to get it in this condition. In addition to displaying the contact number, the information also says that it will take 20 days to make such a car. I must admit that this is not a very long time to wait if you are interested.
Our View
I come across numerous instances of aftermarket car shops trying to come up with replicas of famous cars. However, it is not all that often that they create an electric car. While in other replicas, they mostly swap the body panels, to create an EV from a regular car is a slightly more intense process. Still, professionals have been able to do that. Nevertheless, I would like to recommend our readers to not get involved in such activities for any other reason than passion project or learning. There are no laws supporting the usage of such retro cars. As a result, you might end up in trouble with the authorities.
