May 19 marks the release date of the next instalment of the Fast and Furious movie series, Fast X, as we take a look at what Vin Diesel will drive in it.
You must’ve seen myriad versions of the Dodge Charger in multiple iterations of Fast and Furious including Fast X, which is slated to release pretty soon. If you take a look at the Venn diagram of Fast and Furious movie fans and automobile aficionados, you will a huge overlap between the two. The Fast franchise takes its car seriously which forms the very soul of the movie in addition to the actors. Fast series is all about fast cars and mind-bending stunts. Hence, it excites automobile lovers beyond measure to take a look at the actual cars used in the movies.

Toretto’s Dodge Charger in Fast X
The details and the walkaround tour of Vin Diesel’s Dodge Charger have been brought to us by Donut on YouTube. It is one of the biggest automobile channels in the world with over 7.61 million subscribers. They are interacting with the Picture Car Coordinator of the Fast franchise, Dennis McCarthy. He has been with the franchise for a long time now. He is familiar with all the cars used in the previous instalments of the franchise and designs cars for the shoots. He takes the YouTubers through the entire garage of cars used in the latest movie.

There is the iconic golden Lamborghini Gallardo that Tyrese Gibson’s character drives in the movie. It has a fake manual gear shifter to create an engaging experience for the audience. Then there is the Datsun 240Z which will be driven by a new character in the movie called Isabelle. It has a fake turbo cut-out into the hood. There is also a Rampcar built from scratch with 6-wheel steering capable of doing a side crawl. Jason Momoa’s character gets a Chevy Impala SS in the latest movie. It is an all-steel-body car which is not all that common.

Vin’s Dodge Charger
But the hero car in the movie is the iconic Dodge Charger with tons of modifications. In fact, it has been built 85% from scratch using carbon fiber components and Dennis says that for the final movie set to release in 2025, they will be able to design the entire car from scratch without using any stock components. Vin has extended the front wheels forward by 2 inches because he didn’t like the front overhang. They made 14 of such cars and only 3 remained after the shoot. It has a carbon fiber supercharger mounted on the hood with an electric motor that is connected to the throttle position sensor. The butterfly valves open as well. They sit in the car and even get to experience the exhaust note.
