The Fiat Linea’s 2012 avatar is getting more attention than its predecessor which is the reason why it has interested us in comparing it in terms of features and pricing with other sedans of its segment. As always Fiat products are quite simple to look at but they have this really amazing elegant feel to them. Fiat products have a very bold design with an upmarket appearance and Linea is definitely no exception. The front fascia features large headlamps and a huge grille which are quite attractive, though towards the sides and rear the car does disappoint us a little. But overall the car is quite nice and attractive.

The biggest advantage that Verna has over many other sedans in its segment is its beautiful design. The car is unmistakably beautiful and sporty looking and has a unique road presence. However when it comes to the exterior build quality, it is somewhat inferior and Linea is much better in the overall fit.

Fiat engines are quite frugal as we know and many other companies use them too. Linea’s 1.3 litre engine deliver 92 BHP of max power and 209 Nm of torque along with an impressive 20.4 KMPL of fuel efficiency.
The Verna is available in two engine options: 1.4 litre and 1.6 litre CRDI diesel engine. The 1.4 litre diesel offers 90 BHP of power which is at par with Linea but offers slightly more torque. Another important fact is that it offers 23.5 KMPL of fuel efficiency which is best in its class. If you love performance more then Verna offers a 1.6 litre engine as well which offers much more power and torque and also better efficiency.

The Linea is extremely stable on corners and straight roads. No matter how fast you drive the car, it will not disappoint you in handling. The Verna incredibly offers much more torque and even power with its 1.6 litre engine but the suspension is really not up to the mark. The Verna therefore is neither confident on corners nor stable on high speed cornering.

Interestingly Fiat has priced the Linea correctly with the base model offered at Rs. 7.84 lakhs. On the other hand the Verna base 1.4 is priced at Rs. 8.19 lakhs, nearly 35 k more than Linea Active.

Both the models are the basic ones which offer minimum features at the least possible cost. Neither of the two comes with safety features like ABS, EBD, airbags, leather and chrome inserts, etc. There is a price difference of nearly 35 k but in terms of power and torque there is less difference between the two, though Verna offers is more fuel efficiency than Linea.
Fiat Linea 1.3 Diesel Dynamic Vs Hyundai Verna Fluidic Verna CRDi 1.6
Here the difference between the two cars is not more than Rs. 6000 but there is a huge difference in terms of power and torque. All the required features like ABS, EBD, Airbags, audio system etc do come with both the cars but Verna offers a bigger 1.6 litre engine that delivers much more power and torque and also more fuel efficiency.
Fiat Linea 1.3 Diesel Emotion Vs Hyundai Verna Fluidic Verna CRDi SX 1.6
The Linea Emotion is the top end model that offers all the features present on its brochure and is priced at 9.10 lakhs INR. The Verna SX 1.6 offers more features than the standard 1.6 and is priced at Rs. 9.59 lakhs, nearly 50k more than Linea Emotion. No doubt the high pricing is due to the availability of exceptional features which are not there is Linea top end but still it seems too pricy.
The SX(O) 1.6 Verna is the top end model with all the features like rear parking sensors and camera, six airbags, rear parking assist system etc which are not available in any other car and hence is priced high at Rs. 10.29 lakhs. If one wishes to go for an automatic transmission model, he or she can go with the Verna SX(O) AT 1.6 priced at Rs.10.99 lakhs.

First and foremost we would advice you to go and test drive all the cars that you are considering. Coming to the verdict now, the Linea is a better choice if you want a robust car which is impressive in performance, handling and mileage. But if you really want something extraordinary in terms of features and mileage and only performance then Verna should be your choice. If you are more inclined towards the Verna do test ride the car first as the suspension is not good enough and might feel unstable, though Hyundai is said to be working on a suspension upgrade for Verna.
