I was just fascinated to witness this Kia Carens owner who uses his SUV as a food stall. Now, I have seen numerous cases of people using old cars as mobile restaurants. They are, in essence, a more compact versions of a food truck. In fact, everyone must’ve seen beaten old Maruti Omni vans being used for this purpose. But we rarely come across anyone who deputed put a relatively expensive car for this job. Let us take a look at the details of this latest case here.

Kia Carens As Food Stall
This post comes from therealharryuppal on Instagram. It captures a rather bizarre occurrence. As per the information in this post, a man brings his Kia Carens to be used as a Dhaba somewhere in Delhi. The host of this video interacts with the Carens owner. The latter confirms that he doesn’t feel ashamed to stand on the road to sell food. Moreover, he goes on to credit his wife for the amazing food she cooks. The host shows a few dishes and some rice and roti which the Carens owner has packed in the boot compartment of the SUV. There is a PayTM bar code which the customers could scan to pay.

Why Kia Carens?
The natural body type of the 7-seat Carens lends itself well for such activities. By folding the third row of seating, the vehicle liberates acres of space. That is exactly the reason why the owner was able to set up the entire mobile dhaba there. There are cooked dishes and some other eatables easily accommodated into the rear compartment of the car. That is the kind of practicality associated with 7-seat vehicles in general. The Carens owner is leveraging that practicality and space in the car to his advantage.

Author’s Note
I must admit that I have seen many versions of a mobile restaurant. This includes the likes of a proper food truck, compact cars like the Maruti Omni, Maruti Eeco or other such cars which are discontinued now or are extremely old. It saves the rent the ‘restaurant’ owners have to pay. However, new-age and expensive cars like the Carens are not a common sight in the mobile dhaba concept. Still, it is easy to understand the reason why the owner uses it on a daily basis. The sheer space on offer makes this manageable.
