DC Design has come up with a rather strange iteration called the Mahindra Thar Sielo. It is arguably the biggest and the most prominent aftermarket car modification house in the country. It has been around for a long time. The brainchild of its founder Dilip Chhabria, DC Design became the go-to modification shop, particularly for the affluent. Nevertheless, the company takes pride in customizing just about any vehicle under the sun. This ranges from affordable compact hatchbacks to ultra-opulent high-end premium luxury cars. This time around, the successful off-roading SUV is the donor model.
DC Mahindra Thar Sielo
The basic sketch of where this started has been shared on Facebook by DC2 Dilip Chhabria. However, the post by dc2dilipchhabria on Instagram shows the final product. In all fairness, I find it hard to believe that this is the same Thar. The entire front section looks like it has been inspired by some racing or concept car. The headlamps are completely altered and the bumper is barely visible. Apart from that, the colossal wheel arches don’t look production-ready at all. On the sides, the theme remains the same.
It is totally indistinguishable from the real Thar. It gets two doors like the original SUV but the similarities end there. The side profile gets a broad skirting which continues from the front fender to the rear fender. The design of the alloy wheels is entirely new and not something you would find on any other car. The rear section is equally dramatic with a coupe silhouette, a glass section and even a glass roof. There is a tailgate-integrated spoiler which lends it a sportscar-like vibe. All in all, this has to be the most bizarre iteration of the Thar I have ever come across.
Our View
Aftermarket car modifications are on a rise in India in the last few years. An increasing number of car shops have been set up. They have access to products from all across the globe. Hence, people are heading to these shops relatively frequently. However, DC is an iconic name in this industry. It is one of the most professional and experienced car modification houses in the country. But even it can come up with a few unusual customizations at times. Still, design is subjective. Hence, we would refrain from judging anyone who likes this DC Mahindra Thar Sielo. I must also mention that most car modifications are illegal in our country. You must keep it in mind before going to a car shop.
