SUV Drivable Despite Major Damage
The same video also shows the Mahindra XUV700 being driven into the service centre in spite of being in a pretty bad shape. What this means is that all the essential hardware, comprising the engine, steering system and transmission are in running condition. While driving a car that has been damaged to this extent should be completely avoided, this episode serves as a good example of the SUV’s robustness. Also, the maximum impact has been borne by the pillars, while the front-end has remained pretty well-protected. This is the major reason the powertrain is in working condition and the SUV is still drivable.
Restoring the vehicle will require extensive repair work, which will include a thorough restoration of the chassis. In fact, there are chances the SUV would be declared a ‘total loss’ by the insurance company. Meanwhile, it is necessary to keep in mind that if repaired, the SUV won’t ever be as good as it was before the mishap. It might not even stay as safe as it used to be.

Mahindra XUV700 NCAP Safety Rating
The Mahindra XUV700 boasts a commendable five-star safety rating and has even earned the ‘Safer Choice’ recognition in Global NCAP crash tests. What’s particularly noteworthy is how the car’s roof effectively endured the weight of the truck during this incident, ultimately safeguarding the occupants. While the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, it underscores the significance of exercising caution when overtaking or driving alongside large trucks. Frequently, many of these commercial vehicles tend to exceed safe weight limits, emphasizing the need for vigilance on the road.
