With the redi GO garnering at least some success on the sales charts, Datsun India will soon come up with a 1000cc version of its bargain basement hatchback. The Datsun redi GO launch has just taken place at an official event in New Delhi. Bookings for the new car are already underway and can be made for a refundable amount of Rs 10,000. Basically, the upcoming Datsun redi GO 1000cc model will be to the existing 800cc variant what the Kwid 1.0 L is to its 0.8 L sibling. Prices of the Datsun Redi Go 1000cc variant start at ₹ 3.57 Lakh and go up to ₹ 3.72 Lakh. The new 1.0-litre variant of the Redi GO is available only in the top-end T(O) and S trims. Akin to its not-so-distant French cousin, the upcoming redi Go model will get a 1000cc, 3-cylinder Petrol engine that hasmax. power output of 67 BHP and a peak torque of 91 Nm. Transmissions choices will include a 5-speed Manual at the moment. An AMT will be launched in a few months from now. The Redi Go is built on the CMF modular platform from the Renault-Nissan group.
The Datsun redi Go was launched in India in June 2016. In a year of its existence, it has managed to establish itself pretty well. While it is yet to do a Kwid and start eating into the Alto’s numbers, there are still a couple of thousands of buyers every month who put their money on this stylish hatchback. Datsun India has so far launched a Sport limited edition of this vehicle, which, thanks to some racing decals, does manage to look a tad bit more exciting. The 1000cc Kwid could commands a premium of around ₹ 50,000 over the 800cc variant. Prices of the new 1000cc engine variant start at ₹ 3.57 lakh. The fully loaded S trim costs ₹ 3.72 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect the redi Go 1000cc AMT version to have a sticker price of around ₹ 3.8 Lakh.

The 0.8-litre variant offers an ARAI mileage of 25.17 KMPL. Quite obviously, the 1.0-litre variant won’t be as frugal. However, at an ARAI-certified figure of 22.5 KMPL, the redi Go 1000cc’s mileage is quite good. The new model is definitely a stronger performer than its 800cc sibling. Yet its fuel efficiency isn’t much lower. With a substantial gain in performance and a minimal loss in fuel mileage, the new 1.0-litre redi GO comes across as a better proposition than its 0.8-litre sibling.

While the 0.8-litre RediGo gets a 799cc, 3-cylinder, petrol engine, the upcoming model will get a 3-cylinder 1000cc engine from the Kwid 1.0. The 0.8-litre models outputs 53 BHP and 72 Nm. It comes mated to a 5-speed Manual Transmission. On the other hand, the 1000cc engine outputs 67 BHP and 91 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed Manual gearbox
There is no change in the suspension of the Redi GO. The boffins at Datsun go on to insist that there’s a rather insignificant rise in the car’s weight due to the introduction of the bigger 1000cc engine. Hence, the small increment doesn’t require any sort of re-tuning of the suspension. Even the brakes remain untouched. While the brakes are adequately powerful, Datsun should have provided ABS at least as an option on the 1000cc Redi GO.

The only additions that the redi Go 1000cc variant is likely to get are a set of new badges and graphics. Other than this, it will look much like the regular 0.8-litre variant. Speaking on the Redi Go concept, Shiro Nakamura, SVP and Chief Creative Officer, has commented,”Although Datsun redi-GO Concept is just that – a concept – it shows clearly the way we are thinking. It’s an ambitious styling exploration but, being a Datsun, it is a logical design, too.” This radical design study builds up on Datsun’s design language by being modern and distinctive, clear and robust, and vigorous and positive. In essence, the new Redi Go brings together the practicality associated with a five-door hatchback with the stance of a typical rugged SUV.
Highlights of this design study are- short overhangs, crossover-like body and twin character lines running along the side profile. There are attractive pair of headlamps and daytime running lights too. The taillamps incorporate LED fixtures.
Datsun redi Go 1000cc Review – Interior Design
Unlike the very stylish exterior, the interior of the Redi Go is not very distinct and flamboyant. It gets an unconventionally-styled dashboard that surely stands out. However, the Redi Go does get a covered glove compartment and stylish bits like a fancy speedo console. You also get acres of space (remember, this is an entry-level car). 4 full grown adults can sit comfortably in the car and the Redi Go is definitely more spacious than the likes of the Maruti Alto.
