MG has unveiled the Astor to compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq in the mid-size SUV segment. The Astor brings a unique proposition to the table with its first-in-segment Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) features. This includes goodies like Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Reverse Parking Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Speed Warnings and much more. Being an ultra-modern SUV, Astor comes with a plethora of tech and convenience features to keep the occupants pampered. The MG Astor comes with the option of either a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine making 140 PS and 220 Nm or a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 110 PS and 144 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The turbo petrol comes with a sole 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox while the regular petrol comes with either a 5-speed manual or an 8-speed CVT gearbox. The prices of the Astor are expected to be in the region of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 17 lakh, ex-showroom. The launch is expected to take place in the coming weeks around the festive season. Interestingly, the VW Taigun mid-size SUV will also launch very soon making the segment very competitive indeed.
